Mike and I were great friends from childhood through high school. Unfortunately I moved to Salt Lake after college and did not stay in touch with him. We played football, baseball and track together. He was a great athelete and a gentle giant. Memories of the crazy adolescent things we did have been coming back to me over the last few days. We certainly had our fun and some tough times to. I send condolences to his wife and family and wish I could attend the services. People from high school will remember Mike in many different ways but I will always remember a guy who could recite Shakespeare from memory and always offered his friendship to all. This is a sad time. My heart and prayers go out to you Mary and the rest of the family. Mike was a really good guy, and a really good friend. I feel blessed having been able to walk side by side with Mike in his continuing quest to know the Lord more, what the Lord wanted him to do and who the Lord wanted him to be. He was a strong believer in prayer, and prayed for many people. Going to miss you Mike, but thank you for being a part of my life, showing me what it looks like to constantly pursue the Lord! So sorry for your loss Mary. Mike's mom came across the street and told me of Mike's passing. I did not know he was so ill.Lots of memories as cousins, classmates, co-worker on the good old UPRR but most of all as friends. He will be missed by all who knew him. RIP Mike!!
