Mrs. Masek, Brook,

Gary and I began our you work lives at 12, cleaning bake sheets at the bakery for Mr. Masek. We were a pair of rookies to say the least. Gary got me into Sokol, which made a definite mark on me as a person for the rest of my life.

We communicated throughout the years, should have been more but time created gaps in our friendship but never stopped us from being the friends that we were and are.

My utmost condolences to the both of you and your family as well. I have lost a friend that helped me become who I am today, but I have gained a guardian Angel that will follow me for my life time.

Words cannot describe what you meant to the girls and I. We will cherish every memory we made together. From trips to the cabin, boat rides, casual dinners, Christmas and other holidays. Your hearty laugh and mischievous smile will be oh so missed. You were one if my best friends. I could tell you anything and you could I. There is and will be no other like you. I like to believe we will meet again someday. Please keep an eye on your girl. She always looked to you to be her hero. I wish I knew that every memory we made these past months would be our last I would have taken it in a little better. You meant the world to us. I will always save your seat at the end of the bar.

Blanche, I am so sorry for your loss. Gary was always included. I remember him bringing us a Christmas cake over on Christmas Eve, 1973 when Jason was born. Lots of memories. Also Blanche, could you send me your recipe for the Crispies you made for the Bakery. My son Craig shared his memories of helping his Grandpa Al and they got to have a Crispy. He Loves them. Hope I'm not asking too much. Thanks. You were always so good to my Mom and so good of you to mail all of the Houska's you mailed for me at Christmas. You are such a good Family!

Gary was a mass of energy. After a career as a firefighter (following my grandfather as a Captain on the OFD) he became a venue manager and indie Rock promoter. Always large in presence and a supporter of his city, proud of his Czech heritage and a friend to many. I'm very glad we got together the last couple times I made it home to Omaha. I'll miss you, Cousin. Rest in Peace. Scott
