Janine leaves many loyal friends behind, which is an indication of how beloved Janine is, throughout the US, thanks to her deep commitment to Sigma Tau Delta and its alumni. You have been at the center of our convention and Facebook communion, and you will be remembered with great fondness. And we are all bereft at losing you.

Dear Family & Friends of Janine,

I saw prayer request for Janine’s family & friends on College of Saint Mary website. I was able to pray with all of you at her service this morning. What a wonderful testimony to all she did for so many, especially the marginalized. I’m sure she will continue to watch over them & us, to offer guidance in unexpected ways. We need to be watchful & listening for her inspirations about ways to meet the challenges in our lives & in the lives of others.

I’m a Sister of Mercy & a librarian at College of Saint Mary. I remember wonderful conversations with Janine while she was working on her BA degree in English, Writing & Composition at CSM. Her smile, passion for living, & helping others would light up the library.

College of Saint Mary was started by the Sisters of Mercy, This community of Catholic women religious was started by Catherine McAuley. One quote of Catherine’s that we frequently use describes Janine so well, “We should be as shining lamps, giving light to all around us.” Janine was truly a shining lamp, giving light to all ~~ even to the chicks in a brooder house!

I am so sorry to hear about Janine's passing. I will miss her cheerful Facebook postings about her many interests, her Autism Advocacy, her chickens, her pets, her paintings, her remodeling of her home, omg, too many to mention. But, most of all, her smile and perseverance through everything. My sincere condolences, and prayers for her family and friends.

Janine was so kind and passionate. I had the pleasure of knowing her through our membership in UNO's Women in STEM professional group. She always brought great ideas and perspective, and cared greatly for the advancement of women in STEM on UNO's campus. She is a light that will be greatly missed.

Janine was a great autism self advocate. I had the chance to meet her at the NE ASD Network Conference in 2018 and I also attended her presentation. I was glad that I had the chance to meet this wonderful person and she will be missed in the autism community. My thoughts and prayers are with her friends and family. May she Rest In Peace!

My apologies for typing too fast. Janine was a very good administrator. The department ran very smoothly as she worked hard to manage the large number of tasks that students, faculty and staff needed done!
