Boris J. "BJ" Visty, 93

Boris John “BJ” Visty of Omaha, NE passed away March 21, 2019. BJ was born August 30, 1925 to Boris A. Visty and Josephine Vacek Visty in Omaha and was a life-long resident of the city. BJ was twice widowed. He was preceded in death by Eleanor Budka Visty (married 21 years) and Helen Horvath Visty (30 years); daughter Antoinette “Toni” (Jeff Wilson); sister Victoria; and brothers George and Edward.

He is survived by children of a blended family; Pamela (Jeff Morrow), Judith (Peter Allen), Diane (Bill Hebbert) and John (Grace Janitell), Kathleen (Dean Thomas), Helen Claire (Norm Beulke), Bernadine (Jim Muckey). In his last years he shared love and companionship with Fern Scigo. Boris has 12 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. His family further includes many nieces, nephews and their spouses who also knew him as Uncle BJ or Pops. He is also survived by his brothers Robert and Victor Visty.

A World War II veteran, BJ served on the aircraft carrier, USS Monterey. In his deployment in the Pacific, he saw much combat and was present in Tokyo Bay on September 2, 1945 when the US signed the treaty to end the war.

BJ enjoyed dancing, golf, being at his South Bend Lake cabin, travel, and most of all, spending time with his extended family. His lasting legacy is his love of “family” that expanded greatly over the years to include new members by marriage and by friendship.
