Gary L. "Fluffy" Lewis, 71

Gary was born on June 18, 1950, to Paul Edward and Alice Evelyn (Hahn) Lewis. Raised in South Omaha, he graduated from Omaha South High School in 1968. During his childhood he was involved in the FFA and enjoyed helping and working on his grandparent’s farm. He had fond memories of being outdoors with his dad. His youth is where he developed a love for hunting and fishing.

Gary married Carol (Newill) and to this marriage were blessed with two daughters, Lindsay (1983) and Jamie (1985). He devoted his life to his family.

An avid outdoorsman, he and his family were always camping, hunting, fishing, and boating. He was deeply involved in Lefler United Methodist Church as a youth leader, Sunday School teacher, and Trustee.

His girls got involved in softball at a young age. From here on out the game, his girls, and so many others became his life. He loved supporting everyone from the girls on the field, to the parents, to the coaches, and even volunteered his free time to run the popcorn machine at school events. His dedication, love for the game, and all the girls involved really allowed for him to find a purpose and brought enjoyment to his life for many years. He coached, mentored, cheered, and heckled his way through the girls’ high school, college, and even the adult years they played. He loved it and loved everyone he met along the way.

His grandchildren always brought a smile to his face. He loved reading them books, snuggles, and singing his Bass-a-man a Fisherman song. Oh, and who could forget the dad jokes (oh, the many jokes).

His final years didn’t allow him to enjoy the many things he did during his lifetime. He passed away on September 16, 2021. His family finds comfort knowing he is finally at peace and enjoying his days in Heaven.

Preceded in death by his parents, brother-in-law Kelley E. Bolton, and son Randy.

Survived by wife, two daughters Lindsay (Jesse) Frederickson and Jamie Dworak; sister Sandy Bolton (Jim) Chambers of Sierra Vista, AZ; grandchildren Jesse, Tyler, Haile, Brock, McKenna, Aubrie, and Avery; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A private family service was held.
