Walter J. Bernady, Jr., 70
Walter “Wally” Bernady Jr. was born on March 20th 1951 to Walter and Mary Lou (Horvath) Bernady in Omaha, Nebraska. Wally attended Omaha South High School where he met his future wife Susan (Herdzina), with whom he had 2 girls. Wally graduated from South High School in 1970 and from Metropolitan Community College with a degree in Microcomputer Technology in 1994.
After Susan’s passing, Wally cared for her parents Sophie and Florian Herdzina as though they were his own.
Wally worked for a number of Omaha area companies, most recently at Midwest Mechanical as a maintenance scheduler.
Wally enjoyed caring for his houseplants and roses. Wally was a dog lover throughout his life. He was very artistic and enjoyed decorating his house as well as his office at work. For many years, Wally enjoyed vacations in Colorado with family. Most weeks he would donate $20 to the one-arm bandit at the casino. Wally took great pleasure in a nice glass of moscato. Wally’s laugh and smile would light up his face and all those around him.
Wally was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Susan. He is survived by daughters Dawn (Steven) Johanson and Kelly Bernady (Brett Pollock); grandson Callen Johanson; brother Tony; and sister Cindy.
Wally’s family requests that in lieu of flowers or gifts to the family, donations be made to either the Multiple Sclerosis Society (https://www.nationalmssociety.org/Donate) or to the Nebraska Boston Terrier Rescue (https://www.rescueaboston.com/support-us/).
