Jackie W. "Jack" Moore, Jr., 76

Jack Moore, Jr. was born on October 27, 1947. He graduated from Omaha South High School in
1965. After graduation, he joined his father at Hawkins Construction Company where he was a concrete finisher.

In April 1968, Jack married the love of his life, Colleen Kay Langle.

He was drafted into the United States Army ten days after getting married. He spent two years in Germany. Upon returning to Omaha, he continued to work in construction finishing concrete.

In June of 1970, Jack became a proud father to his son, Jack William Moore, III.

A close friend, Jack Wilkinson, kept telling Jack to take the firefighters test. He hesitated at first because he was doing so well in the concrete business; however, he decided to take the test and in January 1971 Jack became an Omaha Firefighter until he retired 28 years later.

On September 23, 1971, he was blessed with a baby girl, Carolyn Denise Moore.

His son played hockey beginning at age 5. Jack coached and sat on the board of the Omaha Hockey Association. He was awarded a lifetime membership to the organization. With his son he traveled all across various states watching him play hockey.

Jack was blessed with four grandsons who also are hockey players. He was so proud of each of them. He stood by the corner of the rink by himself so he could watch the game without the chatter from the parents. He was at every game cheering them on.

His two oldest grandsons went on to play college lacrosse and Jack traveled to every game.

In Jack’s spare time he loved to play golf in various leagues and tournaments. He had such a great sense of humor, and he loved teasing his teammates and opponents.

His four grandsons gave him a purpose in his life. He smiled the most when they were around.

He lived to see the oldest grandson become engaged.

His love will never end for his grandsons, family, and friends.
