Amber L. DeWitt, 64

Amber was born on a cold yet sunny morning December 7, 1955 in Vermillion, South Dakota. She came into this world the same way she lived, fast and full of energy. Amber was a loving child who grew into a kind and caring adult. In 1974 she married her high school sweetheart and had two daughters. Family was important to Amber. As a night owl it was not uncommon for her to be working late into the night making crafts and keepsakes for her family. Amber was a lover of music, animals, and nature. She spent countless hours at Fontenelle Forest and the Omaha Henry Doorly Zoo. These trips always included her children, nieces, nephews, and grandchildren. Amber’s love and influence will go on for generations as she will remain forever in our hearts.

Amber is preceded in death by her father Robert Nielsen.

She is survived by her husband Leo; and many other loving family members including her mother Inez Nielsen; sister Ronda Miller; brother Scott (Joan) Nielsen; daughters Heather (Travis) Hamann and Rachael Chhong, grandchildren Tristan, Tanner, Micah, Marcus, Maya, Van, and Nautis; nieces Missy (Scott) Gates, Michaela (John) Bruner, Matt (Sarah) Miller, Rob Nielsen and Laura Nielsen; great nieces and nephews Maddy and Mitchell Gates, Allison, John, and Wyatt Bruner.
