Sherry A. Hatfield, 53

On January 9, 2021, the free spirit of Sherry A. Hatfield returned home to her heavenly Father. She died unexpectedly at home. She was fifty-three (53) years old.

Sherry was born December 10, 1968, in Omaha, Nebraska, to the late William L. Hatfield and Betty J. Hatfield. She attended Bryan High School in Bellevue, Nebraska, and received her G.E.D. Sherry was the youngest of four children.

She is preceded in death by her older brother, Bill Hatfield.

She is survived by her siblings, Diana and Daniel Hatfield, and the sibling of her heart, Lori Poff. She was in a relationship for nearly two decades with Lawrence Marco, and they lived together in South Omaha with their noisy dogs, Boss and Lady. Sherry had one child, Cheree Hatfield, who was her pride and joy—even though she never called her mother often enough.

Sherry was an animal lover throughout her life. Her teenage years were defined by her relationship with her beloved horse, Angel. She never lost her love of horseback riding or of horses even when she got bucked off and broke her leg. She always had a dog to love and complain about. Her beloved Rottweiler, Doobie, was well known to her family and friends and was her best friend for many years until her passing. In recent years, she saw to the care of many feral cats and kittens.

The family is hosting a Celebration of Life on January 16, 2021, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m., at the Disabled American Veterans Hall, 4515 F Street, Omaha, Nebraska 68117. Flowers may be directed to the Hall.

If you would like to make a donation in memory of Sherry Hatfield, donations to the costs of cremation can be directed to Cheree Hatfield, 2404 S. 148th Ave., Omaha, NE 68144, via Paypal at chereehatfield@yahoo.com; or charitable donations may be sent to Homeward Bound in the Heartland, https://hbith.org/, a local animal rescue that was close the Sherry’s heart.
