Robert D. Shonka, 52

Robert was called home to our heavenly father on Wednesday, January 13, 2021. He fought a hard battle against Pancreatic Cancer - a battle that he really got the better of until the last few months.

Robert was born on August 12, 1968 to Paul and Dorothy Shonka - the fourth child of this growing Catholic family. Growing up in South Omaha, he attended Catholic Southeast (St. Patrick’s and St. Frances Cabrini) and good old South High School. Yes, he was an S.O.B. - South “O” Boy!

Always the life of the party, the practical joker, always the good time, always there for you. After high school he became Co-Owner of AAA Roofing and he prided himself on being the fastest "hand nailer in the roofing business."

He was the proudest Papa and loved camping, fireworks, Nascar, hunting, fishing, boating, anything outside, oh and of course Nebraska Football and good old Polka music and his Pivo! And most of all he just loved spending time with FAMILY - he adored his 4 children: Andrew, Meranda, Cody, and Coltin. Always the “Fun” guy and the “Weatherman” - there wasn’t a storm he wouldn’t chase.

We love him and miss him. He will be Forever in Our Hearts.

Robert was preceded in death by his father Paul F. Shonka; grandparents Robert and Wilma Shonka.

He is survived by his mother, Dorothy Shonka; mother of his children Melinda Schuchard; children Robert Andrew Shonka, Meranda Jo Schuchard (Jeffrey), Cody Lee Schuchard, Coltin David “Storm” Shonka; 4 grandchildren Josephine, Dakota, River, and Emmitt; brother and sisters Paul J. Shonka (Cindy), Vickie Shonka, Teresa Shonka-Davis (Patrick) and Christine Blankman (David); and many nieces and nephews!
