Dolores A. Wees, 96

Dolores A. Wees was born April 28, 1925, in Omaha, Nebraska, the daughter of John and Katherine (Howard) Velehradsky. The family resided in a house on Patterson Avenue, in South Omaha, while she attended nearby Robbins School, which her future husband, Bill, also attended. Both graduated from Omaha South High School in 1943. Dolores was certified a year later as a keypunch operator by the Comptometer School of Omaha.

Dolores worked at Union Pacific downtown while Bill served in the United States Navy during World War II. After his return, they married on Tuesday, September 24, 1946, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on September 15, 1996, at St. Cecilia Cathedral.

Bill and Dolores raised four sons. They were longtime members of St. Thomas More Parish since shortly after its founding. Dolores passed away on Tuesday, November 23, 2021.

Dolores is survived by sons, Greg, Jeff (Leticia), John (Leesa), Steve (Merri); grandchildren, Jeff Jr. (Andrea) Wees, Joseph Wees, Misha (Scott) Nadeau, Jessie Wees, Paul (Shelby) Wees, Brooke Wees; great-grandchildren, Charlie, Abby, Archie Nadeau, Lian and Sage Wees.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Katherine (Howard) Velehradsky; husband, William Robert Wees on January 1, 2007; granddaughters, Robin Nicole Wees and Morgen Rachelle Wees; sisters, Shirley Klein, and Audrey.
