Judith M. Mascarello, 85

Judith Mildred (Simanek) Mascarello was born October 25, 1937 in Omaha, Nebraska. In 1954, she met and married the love of her life, Franklin Mascarello. Together they raised six children. She was an amazing mom, who taught her children the importance of family, how to be strong, independent, but more importantly to be caring, compassionate and faithful. She had a great sense of humor and on many occasions caused giggles so bad at the dinner table that Frank picked up his plate and moved to the breakfast nook because she would have us all laughing so hard during the meal.

Judy spent her life taking care of those around her, even in her work. She volunteered much of her time to multiple organizations within the church and greater community. Judy became the Director of a homeless shelter in Omaha, where she served for 25 years. She finished her working life supporting families staying at the Rainbow House in Omaha. Judy spent years beside Frank growing in her faith and supporting him on his path through the Diaconate. If women could be ordained as Deacons of the church, she would have been the first.

Throughout her life, Judy was a pivotal part in guiding her many grandchildren, and being an example of love to them and those around her. She was your friend, your partner in crime, your laughter, and your adventure. She loved to travel, serve her church, visit the ocean, and laugh any chance she got.

Judy is survived by her husband of 68 years, Franklin Mascarello; her children, Frank Jr. (Terri) Mascarello of Omaha, NE, Debbra (Joe) Kuberka of Seattle, WA, Michelle (Scott) Mell of Auburn, WA, James (Connie) Mascarello of Columbus, NE, Lisa (Todd) Scheitel of Norwalk, IA, and Anthony (Amie) Mascarello of Omaha, NE; 25 grandchildren; 56 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; siblings Robert "Corkie" and Mert Simanek, Nebraska, and Penny Shaffer, Arizona. She was blessed with life-long best friend Kris Genier, and many extended family and friends.

Judy is preceded in death by her mother Ruth Simanek; brother and sister-in-law, Eugene and Muriel Simanek; sister and brother-in-law Gwendolyn and LeRoy Osborn; grandson Franklin Mascarello III; and great granddaughter Madison Tuzzio.
