I worked with Gary on various tax matters on two multi-year spells. He could be relied on as a knowledgeable straight-shooter. And, he had a great sense of humor! He will be missed.

I will always remember Gary as a firm but fair boss as well as a top notch mentor. Bill Peters & Gary were quite the pair of leaders of the Nebraska Department of Revenue. I have a lot of fond memories of meetings and planning sessions with Gary & other staff members. I also remember meeting Gary during my initial interview in early 1973. I have missed seeing him periodically during lunch breaks since my retirement. His wonderful smile & sparkling eyes will be missed by many. And I pray his cat, Alley, has a loving home.

Gary was a good friend and a good man He was honest, smart and good natured. Working with him was a pleasure. His partnership with Bill Peters was long & strong. Gary was a great guy.

I worked with Gary for several years in the Nebraska Department of Revenue. When asked who had the most influence on my life, I always think first of Gary. Gary was tough, fair and a tremendous mentor. He and Bill Peters were great supporters of me and my career. While I do not get back to Lincoln often, I always tried to spend some time with him and Bill in their office. I'm very saddened.
