Ronald W. Traynor, 82


Ronald (Ron) W. Traynor passed away on April 24, 2025, in Omaha, Nebraska, at the age of 82. Born on December 26, 1942, in Omaha, Ron spent his life rooted in the community he loved.

Ron dedicated 37 years of his professional life to Mutual of Omaha, where he worked as an actuary until his retirement. His long-standing career reflected a deep commitment to precision and service—qualities that defined him both professionally and personally.

From 1965 to 1967, Ron served honorably in the United States Army as a Specialist Fourth Class with the 524th Personnel Service Unit. He continued his service in the United States Army Reserves from 1967 to 1971. His time in the military was a source of pride and reflected his steadfast dedication to duty.

Ron had a zest for life that was evident in his many hobbies and interests. He was an avid sports enthusiast who enjoyed bowling, tennis, golf, basketball, football, and hockey. A lover of games and camaraderie, he also found joy in poker and bridge. Horse racing held a special place in his heart—an excitement he carried throughout his life.

In the final year of his life, Ron faced ALS with remarkable courage and grace. Despite the challenges of the disease, he remained positive and resilient. His strength, humor, and kindness left a lasting impression on all who knew him. His ever-present smile will be remembered fondly by those whose lives he touched.

Ron is lovingly remembered by his twin sister Rita Sweat; brother David Traynor (Angie); nieces Vicky Harris (Rick) and Julia Jennings (Jerry); step-niece Stasya Moua; great-nieces and nephew; and many cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father Edward P. Traynor; mother Julia Traynor; brother Edward J. “Buddy” Traynor; sister Patricia Traynor Price; and brother-in-laws Robert Sweat and Jerry Price.

Visitation will be held on Friday, May 2, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Korisko, Larkin & Staskiewicz Funeral Home with Rosary Service at 6:30 PM, located at 5108 F Street in Omaha. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow on Saturday, May 3, 2025, at 10:00 AM at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 3529 Q Street in Omaha. Burial will take place immediately afterward at St. Mary’s Cemetery.

In God's arms now, Ron can walk or run freely once more and enjoy watching the heavenly horses race across eternal fields. May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him.
