Ronald G. Eissler, 84

Ronald Gene Eissler, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and great great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on April 29, 2025, at the age of 84.

Born on August 20, 1940, to John and Mary (Dudzinski) Eissler, Ron was a proud graduate of Omaha South High School, Class of 1959. A gifted athlete, he was a four-year letter winner in football, serving as captain of the 1958 team and earning All-State, All-City, and Teen Magazine All-American Honorable Mention honors. Ron was a key member of the back-to-back state championship teams of 1957 and 1958, and he proudly captained in the South team in the inaugural Nebraska Shrine Bowl.

Ron continued his football journey with two years at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and two more at Omaha University, where his teams won the 1962 Intercollegiate Conference Championship and the school’s second-ever bowl game. Ron was a lover of many sports over the years from Nebraska football and Track to the Aksarben horse races.

After college, Ron dedicated himself to serving the community through his work with the Omaha Boys Club and later with Union Pacific Railroad. His passion for helping others extended to his volunteer efforts with the Ritonya-Buscher-Poehling Scholarship Program, where he made a meaningful difference in the lives of many young people.

Ron married the love of his life, Sharon (Barry) Eissler, and together they shared years of love, laughter, and adventure. He was a devoted father to Ronald Eissler Jr. (Mary), Nadine Beck (Jerry), and John Eissler. His legacy continues through his grandchildren, Jessie Derby (Kenny) and Jerry Lee Beck (Jamie); great-grandchildren, Chrystena Chism (Josiah) and Maddison Beck; and his great-great-grandson, Cash Chism.

A true outdoorsman, Ron found joy in nature—whether it was fishing with his lifelong friend Moose and family, or walking the uplands behind his beloved English Springer Spaniel, Derby, in pursuit of pheasants and quail. He and Sharon shared a deep love of travel, and Ron proudly visited all 50 states during his lifetime. They spent many wonderful years seeing the country together, from Fourth of July celebrations at Rush Lake to attending absolutely everything involved with their grandchildren. He will be forever be remembered as their loving Papa Ron.

Ron Eissler was a man of unwavering character, humble strength, and boundless love for his family. He lived a full and meaningful life, and his legacy of kindness, service, and dedication will continue to inspire all who knew him.
