Barbara Lynn Slade, 75
Barbara Lynn Slade was born on September 4, 1949 to Wilbur L. and Bernadette M. (Hassur) Parsons. She passed away on May 7, 2025. She was raised in South Omaha and was the second oldest of six children.
Barb raised two beautiful daughters, Tammy Parsons and Cindy Betten, and then she helped raise her granddaughter McKenzy after Tammy’s passing in 2003.
Throughout her life, she worked in various fields, but went on to retire as an insurance auditor.
Upon her retirement, she found a love for jigsaw puzzles, legos, and movies (especially the Hallmark movies). She even dabbled in painting, drawing, and other artistic avenues.
She shared had a great sense of humor and her boisterous laugh could make anyone chuckle. It’s no doubt that Barb created a life for both her and her family that was filled with smiles and wonderful moments.
We will miss her so much.
She is survived by her daughter Cindy Betten; grandchildren McKenzy Parsons, Samantha Betten (Austin Sorenson), Thomas Betten Jr., Austen Betten, Dylon Betten, and Zackary Betten; great-grandchildren Nixie Betten, Phoebe Betten, Violet Sorenson, Alena Sorenson, Micheal Betten; and siblings Cheryl and Martin Hensley, Sandy and Dennis Mitchell, and Bill and Suzy Parsons; as well as sisters-in-law Sharon and Karen Parsons. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
