John C. "Jack" Gundersen, Jr., 59

John Clarence Gundersen Jr., affectionately known as Jack, passed away on May 3, 2025, at the age of 59, at University Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska.

Jack was born on August 7, 1965, in Omaha, Nebraska, to John Gundersen Sr. and Carol (Pope) Gundersen. He attended school in Omaha and remained rooted in the community he loved.

After finishing school, Jack married the love of his life, JoAnn Stebbins. Together, they had one son, Jonathan. Jack worked as an over-the-road truck driver and enjoyed traveling across the country with his wife and son. One of their most memorable trips was to Walt Disney World — in his semi-truck, no less.

In addition to trucking, Jack ran a successful firewood business, serving loyal customers across southwest Iowa and southeast Nebraska. Known for his unbeatable prices and top-quality hardwood, Jack built a reputation that kept folks coming back year after year.

During this time, Jack met Teresa Scott and had another son, Seth. Jack had a passion for motorcycles — often sharing his bikes with friends who didn’t have one of their own. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren, who brought him endless joy.

Jack was preceded in death by his father, Jack Sr.; his brother, Donnie; and several uncles.

He is survived by his mother, Carol Allen; his sons, Jonathan (Amber) Gundersen and Seth Scott; his brother, Jeff Gundersen; and his grandchildren: Gabe, Bella, Daisy, and Amelia. He is also survived by his special friend, Liz.

Jack lived life on his own terms — full throttle and with a heart as big as the open road.
