Depending on how long you have known him, you may call him Cort, or you may still call him Corky or perhaps you best know him as Doot.
Cort was born in Chicago on October 7, 1950. When he six months old, his family moved to Omaha as his father gained employment with the railroad. Fourteen years later, his sister Jill was born. Cort's career took him to several large employers in Omaha. He retired at the end of his career from the office equipment repair business.
Cort had a hearty circle of friends that surrounded his life--best known as S.O.B.'s for their roots in South Omaha. He met his wife Ann where the two of them worked together beginning in 1987. They were married in August of 1989.
Cort enjoyed Creighton basketball, Husker football (especially Husker parties), camping, fishing, the water, the mountains, and traveling with Ann. Most of all, he deeply loved the Gulf Coast waters and the beaches of Sanibel Island. Sanibel became a big part of Cort and Ann's life. They renewed their wedding vows there for their 25th anniversary, surrounded by friends and family. They spent a great deal of time there over the years and believed a piece of their soul would forever be there.
Cort pretended to be a bit shy, but was always the person sought out by a stranger to strike up a conversation with him. He was adored by his family and was very proud of the relationship with his son, Chad. He felt truly blessed when Chad found Nancy and she joined our blended family. His granddaughter Arianna filled him with pride when he was able to spend time with her and he was always amazed by her talents on stage.
Cort's love for his family and friends left a lasting mark on all who knew him.
