Daniel Joseph Gazinski, 91
Dan was born in Chicago, Il to Robert and Mary Gazinski. He grew up and spent the majority of his life in South Omaha. He graduated from Cathedral High School in 1951, spent 2 years at Conception Seminary College in Missouri, then spent 2 years serving his country in the Army. In 1963 he married the love of his life, Carol Holtz and they were blessed with three daughters. Dan was a 60 year Union Carpenter and was extremely dedicated and proud of his chosen career. He worked for Mainelli Construction for many years mastering his trade before discovering his passion for teaching as the Training and Education Coordinator for Carpenter’s and Millwright’s Union 444, retiring in 1998. Missing his students, he went back to teaching at Metropolitan Community College until age 82. Golf, Cribbage, Poker and Horse Racing were his passions outside of work and he loved sharing those with friends and family. We cherish the memories of the whole family at Horseman’s Park. Dan was a dedicated husband, father, uncle, friend and teacher. But his leading role in life was as a Grandpa. No one had more influence over Dan than his grandkids. He adored them and they knew it! Any person who entered his door immediately became part of the family. His heart was open to all. Dan is survived by his wife of 62 years Carol (Holtz), daughters Margie Gazinski (Jim Dowse), Melissa Narducci (Joe), Mollie Slaven. Grandchildren Joey, Jaimee and Angel Narducci, Jessica Harris, Jared, Skyler (Dalton McClendon) and Franky Slaven, Molly and Henry Dowse. Great Grandchildren, Charlotte, Victor, Serahna, Brixton and Kardinal.
Preceded in death by parents, Robert and Mary Gazinski, sisters, Lori Nichols, Barbara Manas, infant brother Robert and son in law John Slaven IV.
