Joan E. Sheehan, 80

Joan passed away Thursday, September 14, 2023, in Cocoa Beach, Florida at the age of 80 years. She was born January 2, 1943, in Omaha, Nebraska, a daughter of the late William and Stella (Cupich) Sheehan.

Joan was a graduate of Omaha Mercy High School. She entered the convent of the Sisters of Mercy, and took the name Sister Mary Campion. Sister Mary Campion taught at St. Margaret Mary Elementary School in Omaha, Nebraska.

After leaving the convent, Joan moved to Colorado and taught elementary school. She became the principal of Nativity of Our Lord School in Broomfield, Colorado, St. John the Baptist School, Longmont, Colorado, and then at Our Lady of Lourdes School in Denver, Colorado before retiring. Upon retirement, Joan returned to Omaha, and took care of her mother Stella until her passing in 2011. In 2019, Joan retired to Florida to live by the water just as she had always dreamed.
Joan was preceded in death by her parents and nephew David.

Survivors include her brothers and sisters-in-law, William and Alisann, and Ronald and Bridget; nephews and nieces William and Jennifer, Ronald, Lori Ann Riggs, and Allison Neill; ten great nieces and nephews; and many dear friends.
