Lawrence W. "Larry" Ramsey, 78

Larry peacefully passed away in his home in Omaha, Nebraska at the age of 78 after a short battle with brain cancer. He was born in Evansville, Indiana to Helen and Willie Ramsey. He attended Marian College in Indianapolis where he met his wife Janet, and they married in 1966.

Larry was a poet, author, jokester and the most generous, kindhearted person. He loved to give gifts with lavish presentations, enjoyed travel, music, movies, theater, motorcycles, loved food, family, reading, writing, woodworking and photography. He was very proud of his high school and college basketball records, and his college tennis records. He loved to play the piano and composed some original pieces. He overcame humble beginnings to become a dedicated husband, father and grandfather while serving a successful military career.

Larry retired from his position as Senior Technical Advisor to the Director, Global Innovation and Strategy Center, United States Strategic command. He had extensive experience in fortune 500 companies, academia, military command & control systems, intelligence, meteorology, telecommunications, and computer systems. As a United States Air Force Officer, he held numerous leadership positions over a 28-year career.

Larry was preceded in death by his grandparents who raised him Zip and Zoa Lawrence, his mother and father, his cousin (who was like a sister to him) and her husband Pat and Gibb Spindler and their granddaughter Danielle Spindler-Stokes and Myra Sue Lois “Momma Sue” (very dear cousin) and her great-grandson Daniel Boyles.

He is survived by his wife Janet, his children Theresa (Bill) Luty, Kelly (Rick) McGill, Sean (Aneesa) Ramsey, Michael (Megan) Ramsey: his grandchildren Elizabeth, Jack Aiden, William, Sophia, Noah, Grace, Maggie, Avery, and Declan and many beloved extended family and friends.

A special thanks to the doctors who treated him and UNMC, and the Hospice personnel at St. Croix (especially Tricia) and the home aids at The Key (especially Hannah)
