Karen Maureen Weeces, 73 of Omaha, Nebraska passed away Monday, March 6, 2023 at Nebraska Medicine, Bellevue, Nebraska.

Karen Maureen Barrett, a daughter of Maurice and Jean Barrett, was born August 2, 1949, in Omaha, Nebraska. Karen was the youngest of four siblings.

On September 12, 1992, she married the love of her life, Alan Weeces in Craig, Nebraska. They lived on Alan’s family farm in Tekamah, Nebraska before moving to Omaha where Karen worked for Creighton University as a medical transcriptionist until 2011 when she retired to travel and enjoy time with her family.

Karen’s grandchildren were her greatest joy. She expressed her love for them with her passion for scrapbooking, making books for each of them. She loved to experience all forms of performing arts and music.

In loving memory, Karen is survived by her husband Alan; son Alan Schueler, grandchildren Ashley, Schueler and Isabella Schueler; daughters Sandy Schueler and Suzy Schueler, granddaughter Samantha Schueler; sister Janet Barrett Thomas; sisters-in-law Barbara Berlin and Carla Berlin; many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and her dog Little Spicy.

Preceding Karen in death were her parents; brother Richard Barrett; and sister Alice (Punky) Phelps.
