Elmer  E.  Janovec
June 10, 2014

Age 70 of Papillion, NE entered God’s eternal resting place on June 10, 2014 at the Josie Harper Hospice House. Elmer was a devoted husband, a wonderful father, a loyal friend to many and a dedicated member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church where he was actively involved in United Methodist Men and the Bell Choir. He was also a confirmand mentor and helped with many various projects around the church. He loved his family with his whole heart and showed his love and compassion with his gentle, humble spirit in everything he did.

He was born April 20, 1944 to Loyd Janovec and Martha Hoffman in Fremont, NE. He was a graduate of Cedar Bluffs High School where he played football, sang in the choir and was homecoming king. He had many different jobs before he hired out with the Chicago and North Western Railway in February of 1968. He retired from the Union Pacific Railroad in July of 2007 with 33 years of service. He also worked part time for Physicians Laboratory Services as a courier after his retirement from the railroad up until his diagnosis with cancer in January. He was very active in the Boy Scouts of America with his two sons, most recently with Troop 60 of Papillion.

He leaves to cherish his memories a loving wife, Peggy, children Ryan and Ross (Jamie), brothers Mert (Sherry), Keith (Lori), and Dean (Linda) and sister Verna Swanson.

Elmer is no longer in pain and walking side by side with his heavenly Father where he will be happy forever. He would want his family and friends to celebrate his life with great joy and fond memories.

The family asks that you join in his Celebration Of Life at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Papillion on Saturday, June 14, 2014 at 10 a.m. with the Dr. Rev. Nancy Tomlinson officiating. A luncheon reception will immediately follow in the Fellowship Hall. Elmer will be laid to rest at Cedardale Cemetery in Papillion.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, Camp Fontanelle or Boy Scout Troop 60 of Papillion.
