Elaine  A.  Newton (Burnett)
April 17, 1928 -  February 26, 2021

Elaine Ardelle Newton (Burnett), 92

Preceded in death by husband LeRoy; and 9 siblings.

Survived by children Susan (Peter) Enstrom, Richard (Diana) Newton, John (Audrey) Newton; 8 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren; other loving relatives.

Elaine Ardelle Newton passed away peacefully Friday, February 26, 2021 at Bergan Mercy Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska. Elaine grew up in Enumclaw, Washington. There she met her future husband Leroy Newton after he was discharged from the Army in 1948. She was on a blind date with Leroy's best friend when Leroy discovered her and they were married for the next 65 years.

They moved back to Omaha where she resided for the rest of her life. In Omaha, Elaine had three children, Susan, Richard and John.

Her family was her life. She was very proud of the fact that she was a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother. In her 90's she could crawl around on the carpet with her great-grandchildren. Her smile was infectious and she offered to give you one if you were not smiling. She would bake fresh cookies with her grandchildren and those cookies were always accompanied by a big hug and a gentle smile.

Family reunions and holidays were very important to her and she worked quietly in the background to make each get together a memorable event. Her keen sense of humor was matched by pride in her family and it always reflected bright as the family gathered for a holiday. Her family knew that "Grandma Newton" could make the best pies and root beer cookies in Omaha.

Later in life when she would join family for dinner, she might not be hungry, but could always find room for a piece of apple pie and ice cream.

This beautiful gentle woman was an inspiration for all who knew her as she wove the fabric of close knit family throughout her 92 year life.

Celebration of Elaine's life will be held at a later date.
