Jean was one of the oldest parishioners at Saint Thomas More Catholic Church.

Jean graduated from Omaha South High School in 1949 and she married Richard Jirak in May, 1951. Jean and Rich were married 61 years before Rich’s passing in 2012. In 1952 they built a home in Radio Heights Neighborhood and Jean lived there for the last 71 years.

Jean, Rich and Jim also owned a cabin and were members at Sokol Camp and loved many happy years swinging on the swing enjoying the sunsets on the Platte River. Friendships spanned decades beginning with the strong loving bonds she shared with her siblings and neighbors. Jean was a loving and kind Aunt to all of her nieces and nephews including fond memories of four leaf clover necklaces harvested from her yard. Jean and Rich loved to polka and play cards and Jean loved to bowl. Jean spent countless hours volunteering at Saint Thomas More Catholic Church and School and the American Council of the Blind of Nebraska. Jean’s generosity of time was admired by all who knew her.
